Introduction

In case anyone is wondering, I am having a wonderful time in El Salvador. It is a remarkably beautiful country and the people are a joy to be around. So far, I have noticed that El Salvador shares many cultural similarities with other Latin American nations I have studied; such as the importance of the community or the nature of the extended nuclear family. However, El Salvador also has its own independent culture that can vary depending on the area and the demographic. Above is a picture of some of the children we will be working with from Circulo Solidario (at least the Barcelonistas). The children will serve as the basis for my research on Salvadorans and their culture. They are great kids and it is inspiring to see how dedicated they are to their community. I am hoping to give English classes at some point during the trip.

I should also make note that I have changed my blog topic from Industrialization to Salvadoran People, as Industrialization is too similar to the topic of Trade and Economics. I feel that focusing on the Salvadoran People will be more pleasurable than looking at business and industry; and will allow me to use my knowledge of Ecuadorian and Latin American culture to greater advantage.
