Art and El Salvador

The past four days have been a roller coaster in so many ways. It has been extremely exciting, but I have encountered so many things that are foreign to me and my lifestyle in the United States. However, despite everything new-- the food, the language, the streets, and more-- so much is the same. We eat, we sleep, we spend time with our friends and families, and laughter is the same in every language!

Another common thread between the two countries is artistic expression. During the ups and downs of life, people continually share their emotions and talents through paint, music, dance theatre sculpture, photography, and endless other forms of art.
In four days, I have only just begun to explore the art that exists in El Savador, but begining in the Museum of Art of El Salvador (Museo de Arte de El Salvador--MARTE) and traveling through the streets I have already seen great beauty that represents the tumultuous history of El Salvador.

Hasta Luego Mis Amigos,

Beckie
