Photo Blog: Salvadoran Youth

This first picture is of some of the youth from the community. They were playing a game where they chanted/sang and they singled out certain members of the group playfully. They are standing on tires, which provide support for the hillside within Altos de Jardines.

The second picture is of two children playing in one of the many playgrounds built by Circulo Solidario. These playgrounds provide the necessary space for children to engage in play and normal childhood development.

This picture shows a common occurrence that I mentioned in a previous blog. Behind the baby, you can see the very young girl who is taking care of her two siblings/relatives.

In this picture, we are playing a game similar to London Bridges, where the 'bridge' captures a few children and then asks them to choose a side (for example, asking if they prefer 'sandia' or 'naranja,' and then sorting the children accordingly) in order to divide the whole group into smaller groups.

These children are placing small cards with factors for an unclean environment onto the earth, such as trash and pollution. The earth on the poster is 'sick' because the environment is unclean.

One of the many beautiful children from Altos de Jardines.
